Coming in from out of town, I recently made my second visit to Fannie May. Their collection of sweets are just amazing, but was a little dissatisfied that they lately got rid of a bit of my favorite marshes. Nevertheless, their assortment of meltaways along with other delectables would require another visit.

The truffles are affordable, but try a little too hard to highlight themselves. Like for example, their peanut butter and chocolate buttons taste like a ball of peanut butter rolled in sugar - no chocolate. Their pixies taste overly-much like caramel, and could do with a small pinch of salt (salted nuts on the bottom rather then plain roasted could work miracles for this already tasty treat). That's not to say that the treats here aren't delicious, but if you ask me, there's still room for improvement.

Needless to say, this is certainly one of the best places to stop by when I get into Chicago. The staff is friendly and warm, very talkative and helpful. I'm sure I'll always go a bit out of my way and get a box of treats from
Fannie May every time I'm in town.
